Things to do in Santa Barbara: December 2015

It’s the holiday season! December in Santa Barbara is considered the ‘off season’ for visitors but unlike many other destinations, Santa Barbara’s weather remains gorgeous and sunny year-round, and this means that visitors during off season will find a Mediterranean climate and cheaper rates at hotels. Because of our nice weather, there really is no ‘off season,” and Santa Barbara Adventure Company continues provides adventure tours year-round. Throughout the month we are taking guests stand up paddling and kayaking in Santa Barbara, as well as taking guest to the beautiful Santa Ynez wine country for our Wine & Cupcake Tour.

  1. Wine & Cupcake Tour in wine country: 10:00am- 4:30pm

Come and experience the Original Cupcake & Wine Tour! Savor a delicious cupcake tasting featuring 6 mini wine-infused gourmet cupcakes. This tour features wine tasting in Sant Ynez Valley, a deli style lunch and a friendly guide for the day.

  1. The Nutcracker: December 19th & 20th

Celebrate the magical holiday classic by E.T.A. Hoffman, set to the unforgettable music of Tchaikovsky, and performed by Santa Barbara’s own State Street Ballet. Not to be missed this holiday season!

  1. Annual Holiday Festival at SB Public Market: December 5th & 6th

This festive weekend will be fun for the entire family as attendees can enjoy Holiday arts & crafts classes with local artisans, cooking classes, caroling and live music. Special appearance by Santa Claus!

  1. Stand Up Paddling lessons: 10:00am & 1:00pm, Daily

Stand Up Paddling (SUP) is the fastest growing ocean sport. Stand Up Paddle allows guests to experience incredible views of  the city, mountains and ocean while enjoying a great total body workout.

  1. “World a’ Glow” SB Holiday Parade: Friday December 4th. 6:30pm.

Downtown Santa Barbara’s annual Holiday Parade will showcase an exciting array of fabulous holiday floats, marching bands, live performances and the arrival of Santa Claus on his spectacular sleigh! Look out for our Santa Barbara Adventure Company guides paddling their way down State Street this year.

  1. A Rat Pack Christmas: December 8th, 7:30pm.

Experience the beauty of the historic Granada Theatre and the musical pageantry of this infamous group! Sandy Hackett’s acclaimed Rat Pack Christmas brings together holiday favorites and famous classics you won’t want to miss.

  1. Harbor Kayak Tour: 10:00am- 2:00pm, Daily

Kayak the American Riviera! People love this paddle because of the relaxed pace and incredible marine life as well as taking in the views of town from the water. Trip includes all necessary gear, a deli style lunch, comprehensive instruction and a knowledgeable guide.

  1. New Year’s Eve Pops Concert: Wednesday December 31st. 8:30pm- 10:30pm

Always the best New Year’s Eve party in town, the Santa Barbara Symphony’s celebration with nationally acclaimed Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt offers the perfect mix of your favorite tunes from Broadway, stage, movies and more!
