As October begins, we are again blessed with many wonderful festivals to visit and enjoy. This weekend I am so excited to head out to the Avocado Festival in Carpinteria. The weather is looking amazing Saturday and Sunday, so it should be an incredible event. Later in the month, there are plenty of Halloween activities to attend – I am sure I am missing several, so be sure to list any you may know in the comments section below. Channel Islands Sea Cave Kayak Tours: Daily

Surfing Lessons: 10:00am & 1:00pm
This time of year is an excellent time to surf- the waves are getting bigger! The Santa Barbara coastline offers several fun locations for introductory surfing lessons. We will teach you the basics of surfing on the beach before hitting the water to catch some waves.
California Avocado Festival: Oct. 7-9th
This is the South Coast’s largest FREE festival. The events are located in downtown Carpinteria on Linden Avenue. There are three entertainment stages with over 60 acts, and 40 arts and crafts vendors participating. Come experience fun, music and food!
Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze
Swank Farms opens their popular Hollister Corn Maze to the public in the fall. Open 7 days a week, including evenings on weekends. Choice of 2 mazes: “Spookley Maze” for kids, and the “Manic Maze” as a more challenging course.
Santa Barbara Harbor & Seafood Festival: Oct. 15th
The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum will host a variety of free children’s activities and offer discounted admission. The Santa Barbara Harbor Seafood Festival draws thousands of people to the Waterfront every year to enjoy succulent seafood – like fresh lobsters and barbecued albacore, plus a host of other seafood treats and marine-related information and demonstrations.
Wine Tours of Santa Ynez, Every weekend 10am pickup
Come explore Santa Barbara’s wine region by shuttle van or on bike. Santa Barbara Adventure Company offers three incredible wine tasting tours. Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show, Every Sunday
Approximately 300 Santa Barbara County resident artists come to display their own works in an informal atmosphere under the palms of seaside Chase Palm Park. All items are original art, created by the artists you meet. The show is held every fair weather Sunday and Special Holidays.

First Thursday — Art, Music & Theater
On the first Thursday of each month, downtown galleries keep their doors open late allowing the public to enjoy local art in a fun and social atmosphere. Downtown Santa Barbara Farmers Market, Every Saturday and Tuesday
Come down and buy local fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, small plants and specialty items. Street musicians, music and downtown shops and restaurants. Year round, rain or shine. Corner of Santa Barbara and Cota Streets on Sunday and on State Street (500-600 bocks) on Tuesday.
