Santa Barbara's coastal
mountains offer great opportunities for rock climbing.
The beautiful settings of local climbing sites provide participants
with a safe and fun way to learn about this exciting sport.
Our climbing guides are professional and friendly. All
guides are AMGA certified (American Mountain
Guide Association) with extensive experience in the field.
Your Santa Barbara Adventure Company climbing guide will
take care of all the details of your trip and offer complete
instruction for all levels of climbers.
We operate on an open calendar, which means if you meet
the minimum number of required participants (2-4, depending
on the activity) we can schedule your trip on just about
any date. If you're traveling solo or are otherwise unable
to meet the minimum, we'll do our best to add you into an
existing group. Call us with your date, preferably at least
24 hours in advance.
Basic Rock Climbing
A thorough introduction to rock craft with the emphasis
on safety and fun. The trip begins with "ground school"
focusing on equipment, knots, anchors and belaying. Your
guide will offer hands-on teaching of climbing techniques,
communication signals and terminology.
The sites we use offer top-rope protected rock climbs up
to 80 feet, with a variety of levels available. The day
will be spent covering the absolute essentials for safely
climbing steep rock and is a valuable course for those wishing
to continue the sport. Classes are taught on low-angle,
moderate rock suitable for novices.
