FAQs

Is this activity suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Unless we've noted in the activity description that previous experience is required, beginners are definitely encouraged to sign up. All our activities begin with thorough instruction (and safety tips) from our highly skilled guides.

Will more experienced participants be equally entertained?

Our knowledgeable guides offer a variety of challenges throughout your day with us, and natural and human history/marine ecology are part of every trip. For example if you're looking for an activity for a group (some of your party are experienced mountain bikers and some are novices), the All Downhill Bike Ride might be perfect for you. It may not be physically demanding, but the views from Santa Barbara's highest peak are so compelling and the cultural information is so fascinating you can't help but have a good time!

Can my party join an existing group if we don't meet the minimum number of required participants?

Of course! Just let us know your dates, the activities you're most interested in, and if you're plans are flexible at all. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Is it possible to do a private trip?

Absolutely. We're flexible and happy to customize our itinerary to your needs. Please contact us for details.

How far in advance do I need to make my reservations?

We prefer 48 hours notice but often can accommodate our guests with less notice. If you have a large group (10 or more participants) we encourage you to make your reservations at least 2 weeks to one month in advance, especially for wine tours in the summer and fall.

What are the minimum and maximum ages for activities?

The minimum age is 7 years for any activity, and there's no maximum age limit if you're energetic and in sound physical condition.

What if I have to cancel or can't make it at the last minute?

No shows or cancelations within 24 hours of the start time will be charged in full.

Can I buy a Gift Certificate?

Definitely! What a great gift! Just call, fax, or send an email with your request. We'll be happy to send you a certificate by email or regular mail. Click here for more info.

What are my payment options?

We accept all major credit cards, cash, travelers' cheques and personal checks.

What's the maximum group size Santa Barbara Adventure Company can accommodate?

We can provide just about any activity for any size group.

Can I get one of those great T-shirts, caps or visors?

Sure! T-shirts are $18 plus shipping. Caps and visors are $14 plus shipping. Be sure to specify size and color preferences.

I have a Gifty Box coupon, how does it work?

We are happy to accept your Gifty Box coupon. It entitles you to:

~ A Mountains to Shore bike ride for one person;
~ A Day Hike for 2 people; or
~ A Kayak Trip for 2 people.

Or, you can utilize one of your two for one coupons (Discovery Passport)with us.

Your Gift Pass must first be activated so you can write your confirmation number on your pass. Passes without confirmation numbers will not be accepted. And your pass can be voided.

Your Gift Pass is valid for one experience only, for first-time visitors only, and is no longer valid once it has been redeemed for the agreed service.

Your Gift Pass is not a gift card. It may not be redeemed for cash or credit and cannot be applied to purchases nor combined with other offers.

You must make reservations and add into an existing trip, meaning we must already have the trip you want (with the required minimum number of people) scheduled for the day you want to use your Gifty Pass. For kayaking, we must already have a trip going out with at least two people in order to add you into the group. For hiking and biking, we must already have a trip with four people scheduled. We will do our best to pair you up with another group on the dates you have available.

To use your coupon, call and make a reservation with us. Make sure you fill out and bring your original Gifty Box coupon with you (no copies or reproductions will be honored). Give your coupon to your guide at the beginning of the trip.

The Discovery Passport (two for one coupons):

~Your Discovery Passport is valid one-time only at up to five venues that you and your guest visit for the first time.
~Your Discovery Passport cannot be combined or used jointly with your Gift Pass, nor used at any location where your Gift Pass has been redeemed.
~Your Discovery Passport is valid until the date shown on your Giftybox and can never exceed that date.

Safeguard your Gift Pass and Discovery Passport. They cannot be replaced if lost, damaged or stolen.
