Things to Do in Santa Barbara: February 2019

February in Santa Barbara is here! Did you meet all of your New Year’s resolutions or get to do all of the fun events you wanted to do in January? If not, February is your second chance! See below for fun events happening this month. Do you have any Valentine’s Day plans? Some of these events are a fun and unique way to celebrate love!

Channel Islands Sea Cave Kayak Tour – by the Santa Barbara Adventure Company

For a truly unique Valentine’s Day experience, enjoy a day of sea cave kayaking, hiking, snorkeling and more at this island paradise just miles off the coast of Santa Barbara. A special is running for the dates of February 14th – 18th to celebrate the holiday – use code CHILOVE10 at checkout! Can’t make that date? Don’t worry,  tours are offered daily starting at 8am.

Santa Barbara’s 34th International Film Festival – February 1 – 9

This nonprofit organization famously hosts a fantastic exposition of independent and international cinema each year. For 11 days, 200+ films will showcase in beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. More than 90,000 visitors attended last year’s festival! Oftentimes actors and stars make appearances as well at this iconic event.

Cupcake and Wine Tour – by the Santa Barbara Wine Country Tours

Come Experience the Original Cupcake & Wine Tour! Savor a yummy cupcake tasting featuring 6 mini cupcakes. This tour features wine tasting in Santa Ynez Valley, deli style lunch at one of our favorite wineries and a friendly guide for the day. Tours are offered weekly on Saturday and Sundays starting at 10am.

Valentine’s Day (or weekend) in Wine Country – Call 805.884.WAVE for availability

Give them an experience this year. Choose between the cupcake and wine tour that pairs select wines with delectable cupcakes, the Santa Ynez valley tour that allows you to explore the region by a comfortable, air-conditioned van, or the wine-country by bike tour if you want to get some exercise. All options include a friendly and informative guide, tasting at multiple vineyards and a romantic picnic lunch. Becca Kufrin from the Bachelor (below) joined us recently and we think it’d be the perfect Valentine activity!

Surf Lessons – by the Santa Barbara Adventure Company 

If you’re visiting California or a local, who has never surfed, come and take advantage of the year round sun and join us for some surfing. Bring a friend and learn how to be successful in catching a wave. Lessons run daily from 10 – 2:30pm with a break for a provided lunch.

Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show – Every Sunday

Approximately 300 Santa Barbara County resident artists come to display their own works in an informal atmosphere under the palms of seaside Chase Palm Park. All items are original art, created by the artists you meet. The show is held every fair weather Sunday and Special Holidays. Time: 10 a.m. ’til Dusk.

First Thursday — February 7, 2019

On the first Thursday of each month, downtown galleries keep their doors open late allowing the public to enjoy local art in a fun and social atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to see the best Santa Barbara has to offer in art, music, and culture! Additional attractions such as live performances, artist openings, demonstrations, and refreshments are featured at participating venues throughout downtown Santa Barbara. 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Downtown Santa Barbara Farmers Market — every Saturday and Tuesday

Come down and buy local fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, small plants and specialty items. Street musicians, music and downtown shops and restaurants. Year round, rain or shine. Corner of Santa Barbara and Cota Streets on Sunday and on State Street (500-600 blocks) on Tuesday. Time: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m/4:00pm – 7:30.
