Things to Do in Santa Barbara: February 2016

February in Santa Barbara is upon us! We may see a few rainy days, but for the most part, we have beautiful, sunny weather with temperatures consistently in the 60’s and 70’s. So if you live in Santa Barbara or if you are just visiting, consider yourself lucky you do not need to do a last minute run to the store to purchase a new snow shovel! Instead you could take a last minute trip to participate in one of these fun activities:

Cupcake and Wine Tour – by the Santa Barbara Adventure Company

Come Experience the Original Cupcake & Wine Tour! Savor a yummy cupcake tasting featuring 6 mini cupcakes. This tour features wine tasting in Santa Ynez Valley, deli style lunch at one of our favorite wineries and a friendly guide for the day. Tours are offered weekly on Saturday and Sundays starting at 10am.

Santa Barbara’s 31st International Film Festival – February 3 – 13

This nonprofit organization famously hosts a fantastic exposition of independent and international cinema each year. For 11 days, 200+ films will showcase in beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. More than 90,000 visitors attended last year’s festival!

Surf Lessons – by the Santa Barbara Adventure Company

If your visiting California or a local, who has never surfed, come and take advantage of the year round sun and join us for some surfing. Bring a friend and learn how to be successful in catching a wave. Lessons run daily from 10 – 2:30pm with a break for a provided lunch.

Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show – Every Sunday

Approximately 300 Santa Barbara County resident artists come to display their own works in an informal atmosphere under the palms of seaside Chase Palm Park. All items are original art, created by the artists you meet. The show is held every fair weather Sunday and Special Holidays. Time: 10 a.m. ’til Dusk.

Channel Islands Sea Cave Kayak Tour – by the Santa Barbara Adventure Company

Whale watching on the boat ride, incredible Channel Islands kayaking, Channel Islands National Park visitors center, options for snorkeling and hiking, an amazing island experience. Tours are offered daily starting at 8am.

First Thursday — February 4, 2016

On the first Thursday of each month, downtown galleries keep their doors open late allowing the public to enjoy local art in a fun and social atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to see the best Santa Barbara has to offer in art, music, and culture! Additional attractions such as live performances, artist openings, demonstrations, and refreshments are featured at participating venues throughout downtown Santa Barbara. 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Downtown Santa Barbara Farmers Market — every Saturday and Tuesday

Come down and buy local fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, small plants and specialty items. Street musicians, music and downtown shops and restaurants. Year round, rain or shine. Corner of Santa Barbara and Cota Streets on Sunday and on State Street (500-600 blocks) on Tuesday. Time: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m/4:00pm – 7:30.
