Fun Things to Do in Santa Barbara: April 2016


Spring is in the air and it is a great time to visit Santa Barbara. At the Adventure Company, we always recommend kayaking, surfing and biking during your visit; but don’t forget to check out the local events including Santa Barbara’s Earth Day Festival. Here is a list of fun community events happening in Santa Barbara for the month of April. Hope to see you there!

Santa Barbara Kite Festival, Sunday April 10
Celebrate the sky this National Kite Month in Santa Barbara’s cool sea breezes! The Kite Festival takes off from Santa Barbara City College at 11am.
Time: 11am-5pm Fee: Free/Free Parking

Spring Painted Cave Kayak Tours, Saturdays in April
Come explore one of the largest sea caves in the World, Channel Islands’ Painted Cave! This all inclusive day trip departs out of the Santa Barbara Harbor aboard a splendid charter vessel complete with hot showers and bunks. Enjoy breakfast, first class whale watching, and a scenic cruise to Santa Cruz Island where the boat will anchor giving you time to take an amazing kayak tour of Painted Cave and a series of other caves and coves nearby.

Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival, April 16 -17 – Saturday and Sunday
Celebrate Santa Barbara’s historic involvement in the creation of the first earth day! Two days of live bands, cultural exhibitions, dance performances, art exhibits, green car show, eco film screenings, beer and wine garden and more! Come join the fun and festivities where it all started! Alemeda Park, 1400 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara CA. Time: Sat 11a.m.-7p.m./Sun 11 a.m.-6p.m

Cupcake and Wine Tasting Tours, check available dates
This day tour features a delicious sampling of wine infused cupcakes in the heart of Santa Ynez wine country. Some favorite cupcakes include Pomegranate Mango Chardonnay and Chocolate Blackberry Syrah. he first of its kind, this wine tour has been featured on NBC LA, NBC San Diego, All Things Cupcake and Evelyn Kanter’s Car & Travel.

Santa Barbara’s Founding Day, April 23rd
Celebrate Santa Barbara’s 229th Birthday with our “Founding Day” festival at the historic El Presidio in downtown Santa Barbara. Bring the family and watch the Presidio come to life with Early California music and dance, Chumash storytelling, archaeology, pottery and adobe brick making! 123 East Canon Perdido Street, Santa Barbara CA. Time: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show, Every Sunday
Approximately 300 Santa Barbara County resident artists come to display their own works in an informal atmosphere under the palms of seaside Chase Palm Park. All items are original art, created by the artists you meet. The show is held every fair weather Sunday and Special Holidays.
Fee: Free Time: 10 a.m. ’til Dusk

First Thursday — Art, Music & Theater
On the first Thursday of each month, downtown galleries keep their doors open late allowing the public to enjoy local art in a fun and social atmosphere. Additional attractions such as music, artist openings, demonstrations, and refreshments are featured at participating venues. Downtown Santa Barbara
Fee: Free Time: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Downtown Santa Barbara Farmers Market, Every Saturday and Tuesday
Come down and buy local fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, small plants and specialty items. Street musicians, music and downtown shops and restaurants. Year round, rain or shine. Corner of Santa Barbara and Cota Streets on Sunday and on State Street (500-600 bocks) on Tuesday.
Fee: Free Time: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m/4:00pm – 7:30.
