The summer is flying by and August is full of fun things to do. With sunny weather and gorgeous beaches, it is time to get outside and explore. One of the best months to be in Santa Barbara, August’s bright days and warm nights provide numerous options for fun in the sun. The water is warm, let’s go!
Santa Barbara Zoo is Open – Advance tickets are required for all guests during this time. Guests will still see many of their favorite animals, including leopards, penguins, and giraffes!
Prisoners Harbor Tour – Available daily
The water is at its warmest and clearest most days in August – making incredible conditions for kayaking at the Channel Islands. See the California State Fish, the Garibaldi, bat rays, kelp forests, seals and other incredible species right off the coast.
Explore the Funk Zone or Presidio, Santa Barbara’s foodie neighborhoods, through your taste buds and camera lens with Eat This, Shoot That! Spend an afternoon escaping the heat! Sunset Kayak – available most days in August from 5-7PM
Enjoy Santa Barbara’s hot summer nights with this 2 hour + kayaking adventure. Witness the gorgeous sunset of the American Riviera along the ocean breeze. Beginning with a comprehensive kayaking lesson, join our guides in heading out to sea while viewing constellations, planets and the coastline.
Kayak, snorkel and hike in California’s island paradise. Trips to Santa Cruz Island in Channel Islands National Park depart daily in August and this is the ultimate way to spend your day near Santa Barbara. See dolphins, whales, kelp forests, paddle along the coast and see incredible rock formations. Trips accommodate guests of all skill levels.
Downtown Santa Barbara Farmers Market, Every Saturday and Tuesday
Come down and buy local fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, small plants and specialty items. Filled with street musicians, music, downtown shops and restaurants, this occurs year round, rain or shine. Located at the corner of Santa Barbara and Cota Streets on Sunday, and on State Street (500-600 bocks) on Tuesday. Masks are required.
