The summer is flying by and August is full for fun festivals, events and things to do. With sunny weather and gorgeous beaches, it is time to get out of the house and explore. As one of the best months to be in Santa Barbara, August’s bright days and warm nights provide numerous options for fun in the sun.
Old Spanish Days Fiesta, August 2 through August 6
Santa Barbarans have long been proud of their city’s heritage, from Spanish founders to Mexican and North American pioneers who first settled here and built the city. A magical time that brings our historic city together through dance, music, food and festivities with a spirit of friendliness, hospitality and tolerance as part of the heritage, which the Fiesta “Old Spanish Days In Santa Barbara” seeks to preserve and perpetuate. Held at many local venues, museums, business and restaurants.
Sunset Kayak – available most days in August from 5-7PM
Enjoy Santa Barbara’s hot summer nights with this 2 hour + kayaking adventure. Witness the gorgeous sunset of the American Riviera along the ocean breeze. Beginning with a comprehensive kayaking lesson, join our guides in heading out to sea while viewing constellations, planets and the coastline.
Santa Barbara Arts & Crafts Show, Every Sunday
Approximately 3:00 Santa Barbara County resident artists come to display their own works in an informal atmosphere under the palms of seaside Chase Palm Park. All items are original art, created by the artists you meet. The show is held every fair weather Sunday and Special Holidays.

Shoreline Beach Horseback Riding – Most days in August, $150 per person
Summer is the perfect time to experience a dream-like horseback ride along Santa Barbara’s glimmering beaches. Enjoy this two-hour romantic journey during August’s summer warmth and check breathtaking ocean horseback riding off of your bucket list.
First Thursday Downtown — Art, Music & Theater
On the first Thursday of each month, downtown galleries keep their doors open late allowing the public to enjoy local art in a fun and social atmosphere. Additional attractions such as music, artist openings, demonstrations, and refreshments are featured at participating venues. Downtown Santa Barbara

Downtown Santa Barbara Farmers Market, Every Saturday and Tuesday
Come down and buy local fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, small plants and specialty items. Filled with street musicians, music, downtown shops and restaurants, this occurs year round, rain or shine. Located at the corner of Santa Barbara and Cota Streets on Sunday, and on State Street (500-600 bocks) on Tuesday.
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m/4:00pm – 7:30.
