Leave No Trace (Santa Ynez Valley)

All of our staff are passionate about protecting and preserving the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. We hope that you will help us minimize your impact during your trip. We suggest reading through the tips below to help you plan ahead.

1. Plan Ahead
We highly recommend looking at the weather the day before to plan your clothing layers appropriately. The valley can be cold and rainy in the winter months and sunny and hot in the summer months. Throughout the year, we recommend a jacket as we can have a marine layer in the morning that burns off for a warm, breezy afternoon.

2. Bring a Reusable Water Bottle
Use a reusable water bottle! By not buying plastic water bottles, you save resources and reduce the amount of trash produced. Our wine guide will provide you with a reusable water bottle to borrow if you cannot bring your own.

3. Leave What You Find
There are many interesting and beautiful things to look at while exploring the Santa Ynez Valley, and it can be tempting to pick them up and take a souvenir. Leave rocks, plants, and other natural objects as you find them. If you are looking for a good souvenir, then a bottle of your favorite wine might be your best friend!

4. Don’t Disturb the Animals
Critters love to hang around wineries, and we see animals ranging from hawks to horses! Protect the animals by throwing away your food scraps and snacks in the trash so they don’t eat it and become ill.

Always follow your guide and the winery staff’s instructions when encountering farm animals. It might be okay to pet and feed them, but it is always recommended that you ask the winery first.

5. Be Considerate of Other Visitors
Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience: Most of us come to the Santa Ynez Valley to explore, drink wine, and relax while admiring the beautiful landscape, so let’s keep it enjoyable for everyone!
